Endodontics - Root Canal Procedure

A root canal is a commonly performed endodontic procedure.  Endodontics is a field of dentistry concerned with the biology and pathology of the dental pulp and root tissues of the tooth and with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases and injuries of these tissues.

What is root canal treatment?

Dr. Richardson uses root canal treatment to find the cause and then treat problems of the tooth's soft core (the dental pulp).  Years ago, teeth with diseased or injured pulps were removed.  Today, root canal treatment has given dentists a safe way of saving teeth.

When decay reaches the inner material of your tooth (pulp), you may need a root canal. In this procedure, the tooth pulp is removed and replaced with a filling.  Dr. Richardson will discuss this procedure with you and suggest the best treatment plan for your specific case.
